Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan recommended Mrs. Archana Charterjee, PGT (Chem.) to be the Indian teacher collaborator to the visiting U.S.Educator and administrator Mr. Donald D. Pruett Jr. of Summer District School, Washington for doing curriculum development project-“What drives math and science curriculum and how is ir implemented?” organized by United States Eductaional Foundation in India.

In this connection Mr. Donald D. Pruett Jr. visited KV Vigyan Vihar on 8 th July 2008. During his visit he met the Principal, teachers and students of many classes. He observed classes of maths and science and also interacted with students occasionally to know their understanding of science topics. He showed keen interest on curriculum and science pedagogy and appreciated the academic progress being made in the school

 

 

 
2.ANNUAL DAY REPORT

K.V.Vigyan Vihar, Delhi celebrated its 24 th Annual Day on 29 th April 2008, Tuersday at 8.00 a.m. at the School premises in Vigyan Vihar. Sh. H.H.Pawar, Ex-Commissioner, KVS, Chairman VMC, KV Vigyan Vihar graced the occasion with his benign presence.

First of all, Sh. D.D.Kaushik, the Principal of the Vidyalaya read out the Annual Report (2007-08) of the Vidyalaya. The meritorious students of different classes were awarded prizes by the chief guest. He appreciated the efforts of the staff in making the function successful.

The Fusion Dance, Hindi play and Nritya Natika (Ganga Kahan Se Aye Re) and the Birthday Party celebrated by the fairies were applauded most by the audience. Mrs. S.B.Vohra, Vice Principal (II Shift) gave vote of thanks.

CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK

NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK CELEBRATIONS (23 FEB 2009 – 01 MARCH 2009)

DR. D.D.KAUSHIK, PRINCIPAL ADDRESSING THE STUDENTS

The National Science Week was celebrated in Kendriya Vidyalaya Vigyan Vihar Delhi with full zeal and fervor to commemorate the contribution of Dr. C.V. Raman noble laureate and great scientists of India . The occasion revolved around the theme “International Year of Planet Earth” as the topic of year 2009.

The whole week was full of activities, which include On The Spot painting competition, science cartoon contest at National Science Centre, Science Quiz on various topics including scientists and their contribution and current science topics. Demonstration of water testing kit by Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi Lectures and talk by eminent scientists on the climate change due to human activities.

The week was inaugurated with an on the spot painting competition for class 6 th to 11 th with the topic “Our Planet Earth” and AIDS on 23 rd Feb. This was followed by science skits on scientific formulations by IX class students explaining the concept of pressure beautifully and another skit by VI class students conveying the message to keep the environment clean. During this week science quiz was also organized in which students of various classes participated with full zeal. Science Cartoon Competition was also held in which students participated. Best entries were sent to National Science Centre for Cartoon Exhibition display on 28 th Feb,08. Students gave speeches on burning topics of Science like global warming environmental problems etc.

“OUR INSPIRATIONS” TALK SHOW BY CLASS VIII STUDENTS

Science week celebration came to an end with the celebration of National Science Day on 28 th February 2009. All students were excited about the visit of eminent scientists from C.P.B.D. The theme of the year i.e. 2009 is “International Year of Planet Earth”

Dr. A. Manoharan Senior Scientist from Central Pollution Control Board was the chief guest. He was accompanied by Dr Gargi, Mr. Bhatt and Mr. R.P. Gupta from the Department.

On this occasion, Dr. D.D. Kaushik, Principal accorded a warm welcome to the chief guest and inspired the students by his valuable thoughts about “Science and Religion” to create scientific attitude among the students.

Dr. A. Manoharan enlighted all the audience by explaining the topic of “Climate Change” in very simple words. Dr. Gargi from Central Pollution Board along with the other officials demonstrated the water testing kit by explaining the various parameters to test water and made them aware how to make water check fit for drinking purposes.

They also inspired the students to utilize water testing kit and spread the awareness in the society.

Tree plantation program was organized to inculcate the feeling of clean and green environment in the surroundings of the Vidyalaya. The plantation of trees motivates the students and teaches them about the importance of trees in keeping the environment fit for healthy life.

At the end of the program Vice Principal Mrs. Renu Gupta proposed vote of thanks and thus the enlightening and motivating program came to close.

On 14th Nov. - Celebration of Childrens day in Primary Section

In the Month of December following activities took place:

  • Students of our Vidyalaya Participated in Essay writing Competition organised Reserve Bank of India.Classes Participated VIII to X .
  • Our School has organised Social Science Exhibition (Primary Section) at Cluster level.
  • Career Counselling being organised for XII class students.
  • 2 day workshop on "Communication Skill" organised for primary english teachers .

Latest activities to be held in the month of January:

  • 147 students of our Vidyalaya are participating in Nationwide 11th BiotechOlympiad on 15th Jan,09.
  • National Science Centre is organising Annual Quiz on 29th Jan,09: Ayusika of VIII A and Tanu of IX B are selected for the same
